Interactive Distance vs. Time Graph Simulator

How to Use This Page

  • Create one or more objects. Each object has its own list of segments defined by Δx (m) and Δt (s).
  • Click Run Simulation & Graph to animate all objects together and overlay their distance–time lines.
  • Hover the graph to see the time and each object's distance at that time.
  • Click Explain My Run to generate a summary for the active object shown in the selector.

Velocity per segment is computed as Δx ÷ Δt. All objects start at position 0 at t = 0.

    FAQ: Interpreting Distance–Time Graphs

    • Slope = velocity. Steeper = faster. Flat = 0 m/s (rest). Negative slope = returning toward the start.
    • Straight line ⇒ constant velocity. Curved line ⇒ changing velocity (acceleration).
    • Average velocity over an interval: Δdistance ÷ Δtime.
    • Total distance adds signed changes; for path length, use absolute values.
