πŸ™οΈ Spectrum City Urban Planner

Unit 6: Waves and Electromagnetic Radiation - Hazard Map Project

STATUSPLANNING PHASE
CLEARANCELEVEL 7

🎯 The Mission Briefing

You are the lead Urban Planner for Spectrum City. The city is powered entirely by the Electromagnetic (EM) Spectrum, but different neighborhoods are exposed to different types of radiation. Your task is to create a highly detailed, scientifically accurate "Hazard Map" of the city. Use this interactive dashboard to explore the architectural requirements, physics principles, and hazard levels of all 7 zones before you sketch your master plan.

πŸ“‹ Technical specifications are loaded into the Zone Explorer below.
πŸ“„ Requirement: 11x17" Ledger Paper (Landscape)

🌊 The Wave Baseline Analysis

Across the very bottom of your physical map, you must draw one continuous wave. Observe the telemetry below: it must start with long, wide waves on the left (Radio) and get progressively tighter and closer together as it moves to the right (Gamma).

Longest Wavelength / Lowest Frequency Shortest Wavelength / Highest Frequency

Select a city district below to load its specific architectural, scientific, and safety requirements. You must include all details for each zone on your final map.

πŸ“… Daily Pacing & Accountability

Do not move on to the next phase until the current one is complete. Get your sub's sign-off for each phase.

  • Phase 1: The Map Layout Collect one 11x17" landscape sheet. Lightly sketch the 7 zones on your paper. Draw the "Wave Baseline" at the bottom.
  • Phase 2: Architecture & Visuals Draw the required buildings and features for all 7 zones. Begin adding color (colored pencils/markers).
  • Phase 3: The Physics Labels (Final Polish) Add all required science labels, hazard warnings, and interaction arrows (such as the "Lowest Frequency" science label, the "Hazard Level: EXTREME" warning, and reflection/absorption arrows). Complete rubric.
  • Overall City Design The map is fully colored with no large, empty white spaces.

πŸ“Š Grading Rubric (How to get your A)

The Wave Baseline

Excellent: Continuous wave perfectly shows decreasing wavelength/increasing frequency left to right.

Needs Work: Wave is drawn, but doesn't clearly change frequency.

Visual Requirements

Excellent: All 7 zones include specific required drawings. Map is colored and vibrant.

Needs Work: Missing required drawings or coloring is messy/incomplete.

Science Labels

Excellent: Every zone has exact Science, Hazard, and Physics labels requested.

Needs Work: Labels present but missing key vocabulary (Ionizing, Frequency, etc.).

Physics Interactions

Excellent: Arrows clearly/correctly show Reflection and Absorption in Zones 4 & 6.

Needs Work: Arrows drawn but don't clearly show the physics concept.
